WHat we Do
Propelr is focused on helping artists build sustainable business models for their chosen art, trade and craft. We are also completely dedicated to nurturing talent over the long-term and remain truly obsessed with progress.
Who we are
Josh Kaplan is the founder of Propelr. As a corporate and entertainment lawyer, Josh has parlayed his experience of the business of entertainment into a management structure that focuses on an artist's overall career. Always working to get the most for clients while keeping a watchful eye on legal pitfalls allows Josh's artists to breathe easier and focus on what they do best: creating music.
With Josh's guidance, Propelr has evolved into a full service music management operation. From day-to-day guidance to long term planning, Josh works to maximize an artist's creative output and financial reward.
Josh is a Minneapolis, Minnesota native, a University of Wisconsin-Madison grad and a graduate of the Chicago-Kent College of Law where he received a J.D. and a certificate in Intellectual Property Law. Josh can currently play 3 songs on the Banjo.
Whitney's passion lies in helping artists advance their careers and educating them along the way. For 7 years she worked in music licensing, including a role as Catalog Director at Rumblefish Inc, where she curated, managed and organized the Rumblefish music catalog and played a key role in the company’s partnership as one of YouTube’s first major content ID clients.
In 2011 Whitney moved to Chicago to take on the role of Director of Artist Services at Music Dealers, LLC, helping design and build the department. At Music Dealers, she was able to connect artists with major brands like Coca Cola, Bacardi and McDonalds, along with a wide variety of television and film programming. Whitney joined Propelr in 2014 and continues to help independent artists progress in their careers and success.
